How much do you charge?

"So, what's your rate?"

Four words that have made even experienced designers freeze.

A designer messaged us this week stuck on exactly that, six years in and still unsure what to actually say when the pricing question lands.

So we shared everything we told her and turned it into this post.

Swipe through for the full seven, but the short version is this:
- Never give a number on the call, buy yourself time to think.
- Ask more questions than they do, because the more you dig, the more seriously they take you.
- Understand the work before you price it, then work backwards from the pay you actually want to keep.
- Check the fit and read the small print before you commit.
- And above all, know your worth, because clients aren't only paying for your Photoshop skills.

Our own road through this has been far from smooth, and we want to help the next wave of creatives skip a few of the potholes.

If you ever need advice, feedback, or just someone to rant to, drop us a line at hello@playbook-studios.com.

We’d love to hear from you.
